The story of Italy, from the 80s to nowadays, told through the life of four friends, Giulio, Gemma, Paolo e Riccardo; during 40 years of loves, aspirations, success and failures.

Follows a team of small-time Italian thieves who manage to deceive top-level security to steal millions of dollars' worth of precious stones from the Antwerp Diamond Centre.

In Sicily during the seventies the police chief Maltese finds himself entangled in an investigation that will uncover the widespread influence of Mafia in the area and expose the archaic roots which nurtured it.
