Somewhere in Time is a romantic fantasy film that follows the story of Richard Collier, a young writer, who is approached by an elderly woman during the opening night of his play. She mysteriously urges him to come back to me. Intrigued, Richard embarks on a quest to uncover the identity of this woman. He discovers that she is Elise McKenna, a famous stage actress from the early 1900s.
As Richard becomes increasingly fixated on Elise, he begins to believe that he can travel back in time to meet her. Through self-hypnosis, he manages to transport himself to the past, where he encounters Elise. They quickly fall in love, despite disapproval from Elise's manager.
Their relationship is tested by the immense challenges posed by their differing time periods.
