Rock of Ages is a 2012 musical film set in 1987 Hollywood. Sherrie Christian, a young and naive girl from Tulsa, arrives in Hollywood with dreams of becoming a rock star. She meets Drew Boley, a bar back at the Bourbon Club, the center of the rock scene in town. Despite the club's owner, Dennis Dupree, being hesitant to hire people with musical aspirations, Drew convinces him to hire Sherrie as a server. As Drew and Sherrie's mutual attraction grows, they navigate their blossoming romance amidst financial difficulties faced by the club.
Dennis and his assistant, Lonny, are able to book rock star Stacee Jaxx, known for performing at the Bourbon, for a benefit concert. Rumors circulate that Stacee is leaving his band to pursue a solo career. Meanwhile, the mayor's wife, Patricia Whitmore, leads a campaign to shut down the Bourbon, fueled by her own hidden secrets.
As Drew and Sherrie's relationship and musical aspirations face challenges, they must contend with changing musical tastes and the enigmatic Stacee Jaxx. Their love story is interwoven with other romances, all threatened by the struggle to remain true to their musical visions.
