In the movie Music and Lyrics, Alex Fletcher, a former 80's pop sensation, is struggling to stay relevant in the music industry. His career mainly consists of performing his old hits at nostalgic events. However, when he's offered the opportunity to write a song for popular teen idol Cora Corman, he jumps at the chance. The only problem is that while Alex is great at composing melodies, he struggles with writing lyrics.
Enter Sophie Fisher, a talented poet who happens to be subbing for a friend and watering Alex's plants. Sophie is quick-witted and has a way with words, making her the perfect candidate to help Alex write the song. However, there's a mysterious shadow hanging over her, which may pose a challenge for Alex.
As Alex and Sophie work together to create the song, they begin to develop a close bond. Along the way, they discover not only a musical connection but also a deeper emotional connection. Together, they navigate the complexities of the music industry and their own personal struggles.
