May Brennan, a successful author with a stable and dependable fiancé named Ziad, is preparing for her wedding and seems to have it all together. However, when she returns to her family in Amman, Jordan, her seemingly perfect life begins to unravel. Her mother, Nadine, a fervent Christian, strongly disapproves of her Muslim fiancé to the point where she plans to boycott the wedding. May's younger sisters, Dalia and Yasmine, act more like her children than siblings. To complicate matters, her estranged father, Edward, suddenly wants to reconcile with her.
