In the movie Mad Mom (2019), Amber Vickers is overjoyed to finally be getting married to her perfect partner, Luke. After a series of failed relationships, she begins to doubt if true love is meant for her. However, her soon-to-be mother-in-law and best friend, Jill, sees Amber as the daughter she never had and believes that she is the ideal match for Luke.
Amber's happiness is threatened when her mother, Sharon Vickers, pays a visit. Sharon is flashy, uptight, and has strong opinions, making her the complete opposite of Jill. What was supposed to be a pleasant meeting between in-laws quickly evolves into a fierce competition as Sharon and Jill clash over their different perspectives on life, love, and marriage.
As the weekend visit nears its end, Sharon takes matters into her own hands and traps Jill inside her house, determined to prove that no one can come between her and her daughter. The situation becomes increasingly tense as Jill tries to escape and Sharon becomes more manipulative.
