Gungmin Yeoreobun is a 2019 television series following the story of Yang Jung Kook, a skilled conman who has managed to evade arrest thus far. However, his world is turned upside down when his girlfriend disappears with the money they had saved for their wedding. Heartbroken and angry, Yang Jung Kook seeks solace in alcohol and comes across Kim Mi Young, a woman dealing with her own relationship problems involving her cheating boyfriend.
As they bond over their shared pain, Yang Jung Kook presents himself as a successful business owner, while Kim Mi Young claims to work for a small company. Unbeknownst to Yang Jung Kook, Kim Mi Young is actually an undercover detective. Despite the deception, their connection deepens into a romantic relationship.
On their wedding day, Kim Mi Young shocks Yang Jung Kook by revealing her true identity as a detective. Simultaneously, a mysterious woman named Park Hoo Ja enters the scene. She is the owner of a private loan business inherited from her father, who was previously conned by Yang Jung Kook. Park Hoo Ja discovers Yang Jung Kook's whereabouts and blackmails him into running for a national assembly seat.
Gungmin Yeoreobun explores themes of love, trust, and redemption as Yang Jung Kook navigates his past mistakes while confronting new challenges in his bid for political power. Will he be able to overcome his criminal past and create a new future?
