Desperate Hours (2007) is a thrilling suspense movie set in Chicago. Neil Randall, a family man and executive at an advertising agency, leads a seemingly perfect life. He expects a promotion at work, has a beautiful wife named Abby, and a lovely daughter named Sophie. Everything changes when Neil's boss, Karl Granger, invites him to his country cottage for the weekend.
In order for Abby to join her sister Diane, who is meeting her for the day, they hire a nanny to take care of Sophie. As Abby and Neil are driving to meet Diane, they are startled when an unknown stranger suddenly appears in the backseat, holding a gun. The stranger, who goes by the name Ryan, reveals that he has kidnapped Sophie.
Ryan demands a hefty ransom for Sophie's safe return and makes it clear that any attempt to involve the police will have dire consequences. Neil and Abby are forced to follow Ryan's instructions and do everything in their power to save their daughter from this dangerous situation.
