Details
Death Wish (1974) is a gripping crime thriller that follows Paul Kersey, an open-minded architect living in New York City. After returning from a blissful vacation with his wife, Paul is warned by his cynical coworker about the rising crime rate in the city. As a bleeding-heart liberal, Paul believes that crime is a result of poverty, dismissing his coworker's concerns.
However, tragedy strikes when Paul's wife is killed, and his daughter is brutally raped in their own apartment. Devastated and desperate for justice, Paul discovers that the police have no reliable leads, and his son-in-law's sensitivity only adds to his frustration. He realizes that the police simply cannot be everywhere at once.
In an unexpected move, Paul's boss offers him a work assignment in Arizona. While there, he experiences the Old West ideals and gains a new perspective on crime. When he returns to New York, Paul is no longer the same bleeding-heart liberal. Instead, he becomes determined to take matters into his own hands and deliver justice to the criminals who destroyed his life.
