In the movie Cavendish, Mark and Andy return to their childhood town after almost 30 years since their parents' divorce. Growing up in Toronto with their mother, they had minimal contact with their father, Rollie, who only reached out during Christmas. Mark was content with occasional gifts and compliments, but Andy always felt the sting of rejection. They come back to Cavendish to take care of their ailing father and quickly realize that this town is unlike any other. Strange and creepy incidents happen here, and the townspeople seem oddly unfazed by them. There are rumors of a beast lurking in the woods, possessed ancient statues, and even an Anne of Green Gables cult.
As Mark and Andy navigate their misadventures in this peculiar town, they are accompanied by their grumbling father who runs The Museum of the Strange and Fantastic, Rollie's partner Ruth who radiates positivity, Ruth's gloomy niece Bryn, and other nonchalant townsfolk.
