Details
In the 1952 film April in Paris, Miss Ethel 'Dynamite' Jackson, a chorus girl, receives a mistaken invitation from the State Department to represent the American theatre in an arts exposition in Paris. The invitation was actually intended for Miss Ethel Barrymore, but before the mistake can be rectified, Dynamite sets off for Paris.
S. Winthrop Putnam, the bureaucrat responsible for the mix-up, attempts to fix his error but fails to do so in time. In Paris, Dynamite and Putnam meet and end up getting married, believing it to be a valid marriage. However, things take a surprising turn when they discover that their marriage is not legal.
