Dr. Martin Blake is a dedicated physician longing for recognition and respect in his profession. When he encounters Diane, an 18-year-old patient suffering from a kidney infection, his world is seemingly transformed. As her health improves under his care, Martin fears losing the attention and validation he receives as her doctor. Obsessed with maintaining their relationship, he starts to manipulate Diane's treatment, intentionally keeping her sick and confined to the hospital.
