Details
In the movie Happy Together (1997), Yiu-Fai and Po-Wing embark on a trip to Argentina from Hong Kong in an attempt to revive their failing relationship. However, things quickly take a turn for the worse, causing their connection to unravel. Yiu-Fai, feeling disillusioned, takes a job at a tango bar to save money for his eventual return home.
Just when Yiu-Fai has begun to pick up the pieces of his shattered relationship, a battered and bruised Po-Wing reappears in his life. Yiu-Fai sympathizes with him but finds himself unable to fully reconcile their past and enter into a more intimate relationship. Po-Wing, on the other hand, is still not ready to settle down.
Yiu-Fai eventually ends up working at a Chinese restaurant where he meets Chang, a young man from Taiwan. This encounter sparks a new chapter in Yiu-Fai's life, as he finds himself drawn to Chang and his vibrant energy. Meanwhile, Po-Wing continues to experience a series of setbacks, highlighting the stark contrast between their respective paths.
As the story unfolds, Happy Together explores themes of love, loss, and the complexities of human relationships. Through its captivating narrative, viewers are taken on a journey of emotional growth and self-discovery.
